JFC Naples leadership visits Bosnia-Herzegovina
Sarajevo, BiH - Lt. Gen. Leandro De Vincenti, JFC Naples Chief of Staff, visited Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) on 18-19 June to review the ongoing efforts of the International Commission for Missing Persons (ICMP) and learn how the NGO additionally provides support in other areas.
De Vincenti held high-level meetings with Mr. Muhamed Ibrahimovic, BiH Minister of Defense; Maj. Gen. Rizvo Pleh, Deputy Chief of BiH Armed Forces Joint Staff; and Brig. Gen. Gary Huffman, Commander NHQSa.
One of De Vincenti's responsibilities as head of the EU Command Element (EUCE), afforded him the excellent opportunity to meet with Maj. Gen. Robert Brieger, Force Commander of the European Force (COMEUFOR) (pictured above), and receive an operational update on Operation ALTHEA. Operation ALTHEA is the EU-led military operation, which is part of the European Security and Defence Policy support to (BiH).
The EUCE, located in Naples, Italy, ensures the necessary coordination with NATO at the regional level. The EUCE also provides mutual support, transparency and coordination, primarily regarding the use of Reserve Forces, which are a shared asset between EU and NATO based upon the agreement of the nations concerned, who offer their troops for the entire Balkans AOI.
