JFC Naples Mobile Training Team conducts Public Affairs training at Skopje

SKOPJE, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia* - A Subject Matter Expert (SME) from JFC Naples conducted a mobile training event on media and public affairs, December 9-11, 2015.  

The aim of this first public affairs mobile training mission was to introduce military public affairs in NATO and its mandate, mission and procedures. Additonally, the training focussed on social media and imagery and the capability of both to increase its importance to the Alliance and its partner nations. During several workshop sessions, the participants discussed how to handle public affairs issues during a crisis and deveveloped plans to face specific challenges. 

About 20 officers and non-commissioned officers from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia* Ministry of Defence and from several branches of their armed forces attended the event, which was held in the "Army's House" located in the capital city of Skopje.

The chief of the public affairs office in the General Staff and spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Toni Janevski, opened the training while underlining the importance of NATO partnership. "We thank JFC Naples for this remarkable support," Janevski said. 

Later, while addressing the group, the chief public affairs officer of Allied Command Operations, U.S. Army Colonel Eric Bloom, underlined the efforts NATO does to emphasize the relationship to the Alliance's partner nations. "It is challenging and a common effort to face the pace of the media environment and to keep up-to-date in illustrating the public NATO's strains to work for peace and stability," Bloom said.

The JFC Naples' MTT activity supports NATO objectives and helps to build the trust and understanding that will lead to better cooperation in the region and promote increasing interoperability with NATO.
